Our Bahamas Destination Wedding Photos

Greetings from Ireland! Rick and I are driving between Dublin & Belfast today celebrating our two year anniversary with another fabulous vow renewal. This time, in costume. (Wanna guess what we’re up to?)

Hold up though. TWO YEARS?! How have I been a married woman for two whole years?

Time flies when you’re dodging crisis after crisis having fun.

Last week, Rae and I were at a tiki bar on Captiva Island sipping Bahama Mamas, and just the taste brought us back to Hell Wedding Week in Abaco two years ago. As the rum flowed, we reminisced about all the wedding mishaps – the serious and not-so-serious. The good news is, I’m finally to the point where I can laugh about almost everything that happened that week. (Minus the threats from the hotel, hey-o!)

But the ridiculous stuff – nearly drowning while trying to take underwater wedding photos, our hideous updos, having our rehearsal dinner in a construction site and having more than one relative who drank their weight in rum – are memories that seem to get funnier as we get farther away from their origin date.

In the ensuing fallout with the venue after the wedding, I never even got around to sharing photos of the big day. And despite how the week actually went, our photographers from the Lilypad Agency did an amazing job of blurring out construction equipment and photoshopping the bags under my eyes.

They say in marriage the days are long, but the years are short. And I am really starting to understand that.

We’ve had our rough spots, as all newly married couples do. Learning how to communicate shouldn’t be this hard for a professional communicator, but it turns out, Rick is neither a blog reader or a mind reader, so I’ve had lots to learn.

And he has, too. Like… I want things done… yesterday. You’d never guess he is the native New Yorker and not me. There is no gratification instantaneous enough for me, but I’m learning from his more mellow lifestyle that not everything has to be RIGHT NOW.

They say the first two years are the hardest, and if that’s the case we are gonna be a.o.k. I’m so happy with this man and so blessed by him just being his weird self in my weird life.

Anyhow, gotta run. We’re driving on the wrong side of the road in costumes so no time to dawdle.
