After posting my plane crash story earlier this week, I just wanted to say thank you for all the encouraging feedback! It was a terrifying moment, one of the scariest of my life, but if you can’t look back and laugh at that stuff, what can you do?
Along those lines, I found a quote from Karen Blixen, author of Out of Africa, who I became very close to during my trip to Kenya… well, as close as you can come to a long dead writer… and it summed up the plane incident and several other dramas from my year of travel.
All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story or tell a story about them.
After I posted my recap of the crash, I started feeling rotten because despite the plane incident, I had such an amazing visit to the Masai Mara. Everything about it was perfect except for the last few minutes on that prop.
So I wanted to leave everyone with some happy images – definitely GO to the Masai Mara. Go on a Kenya safari. And even take small planes to get there… just, you know, beware of storms!
