The Angie Away Story
Once upon a time I had a dream job as a travel publicist in NYC at the world’s largest agency in the most lauded travel + lifestyle practice in the country. In 2010, I sold everything I owned and turned in the keys to my cubicle for the thrill of the uncharted path.
During my travels, I’ve used everything I ever learned from the PR side of the fence and turned it into the travel, lifestyle and beauty-focused world you see here.
Nearly three years after taking the biggest leap of faith of my life, AngieAway.com has become the cyber campfire where I recount the tales of my adventures – the euphoric experiences, the horrible hotels, the lifelong friendships, the smelly hostel bunkmates, the sort-of plane crashes, picture perfect beaches, the road romances-gone-wrong, wildlife encounters, pick-pocketing, drugging, mugging, tasty meals, sharks and everything in between.
My goal is to inspire folks to step outside *real* life to experience the *real* world.
And that real world I’m talking about? It includes everything from hostels and guesthouses to cruises and 5-star luxury resorts. Everything from a day at the spa to shark cage diving to scaling the side of a skyscraper.
Six continents and counting… there’s nowhere I won’t go.
Most American travelers have about two weeks of vacation per year, so it’s my pleasure to help them make the right travel choices before they get on the road! All that pre-trip research takes time, so I aspire to make that step much easier for the average hardworking citizen by posting 3-4 times a week and broadcasting content via Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and other social media platforms. Recurring features include Where to Stay, Travel Food & Reflections From The Road.
My past life as a travel publicist has given me insight on how to work with both sides of the media fence – the publicity side & the media side. Opinions & reviews on Angie Away are my own.
