Monster Sound | My Review of Monster Headphones

This post is brought to you by Monster Headphones and BlogHer.

HI! SORRY TO SHOUT, BUT I’VE JUST SPENT THE PAST FOUR HOURS AT STARBUCKS WRITING A STORY ABOUT ZOMBIES FOR A PR PROJECT I’M WORKING ON WHILE LISTENING TO THRILLER ON MY APTLY NAMED MONSTER HEADPHONES. SO LET’S JUST GET THIS OUT OF THE WAY – THESE PUPPIES ARE LOUD!Hours later… So, now that my hearing has returned to a normal level, let’s get down to the business of this product review. Monster Headphones sent me a pair of N-TUNE headphones in Candy Lime Green to test out and give my honest opinion. So here goes! IMG_7687 What I Liked

The packaging says that N-Tune HD headphones are virtually indestructible, and as a traveler who wreaks havoc on just about every electronic device I have, I’d like to accept that challenge. So far, so good – I already dropped them in the parking lot on the way back from the gym and they still work. Bonus round! The headphones are also surprisingly flexible. You can twist the headband portion of the Monster Headphones and they won’t break. I can’t imagine a reason to twist them, other than to say, “Hey, look at this crazy feature on my headphones!” but just in case you have the urge to do so, you can.

As a traveler, I really liked the non-descript carry bag that doesn’t shout HEY, I’M EXPENSIVE! STEAL ME, HOSTEL DWELLERS! Conversely, I like that the actual headphones are bright and big because they send a much clearer DO NOT TALK TO ME message to strangers on trains and planes. (Boy, I sound friendly, don’t I?) You can just point to the headphones with an apologetic shrug. “I’m just far too engrossed in the guitar-heavy catalogue of Molly Hatchet to have a conversation. Meep.” You can’t really do that with the tiny in-ear buds that come with the iPhone – I know, I’ve tried. IMG_7689 I also love the colors and wish I’d had a choice on mine because Hulk green is not my signature color. I’m learning to love them, but I probably would’ve gone with Candy Red. Ah well. Beggars (bloggers?) can’t be choosers, eh?

What I Didn’t Like

After a couple of hours working at Starbucks, the on-ear cushioned pieces started to squeeze just a little to tight so I had to take a break. And then I shouted CHAI LATTE at the poor barista because I had been jamming a little too loudly. (Note to self: listen at a reasonable, healthy level. Just because my dad is a rockstar doesn’t mean I have to be as deaf as he is.)

Speaking of my rockstar dad… there’s a good chance he’s getting a pair of Monster Headphones for Christmas. They’re loud enough that even a man with 53 years of rock-induced ear damage can hear – shazam! (And no worries – he doesn’t read my blog so he won’t know what I’m giving him. He thinks my website is Angie’s List!)
