Cheerio to Jane Austen | A Begrudging (Yet Temporary) Goodbye to England

For someone who wasn’t supposed to be in Europe at all during my RTW adventure, I sure did have a killer time in Greece, Turkey, Spain and finally in jolly old England. Even though I was off track, it all worked out for the best… which I’ve noticed seems to be an ever-present, very welcome theme in my travels.

While dealing with a travel funk and a bit of drama with my own Mr. Wickham in the Queen’s backyard, I went on a Jane Austen pilgrimage, watched the Deathly Hallows on opening night, checked out some of the most recognizable Harry Potter film locations, caught up on my spiritual side in Oxford with C.S. Lewis, wondered and wandered about mysterious Stonehenge, and took the healing waters in Bath. After all that fun, I found it unexpectedly hard to depart the UK, a feeling I haven’t really had with any other destination this year. (What I didn’t realize is that I’d be back several more times before my big adventure was over… ) I just LOVE England so much!

Here are a few never-before-seen shots from my literary pilgrimage. Enjoy!

Up next… holidays in EGYPT!

There is a lot to see in London alone. I spent a week there a few years back and didn’t come close to exploring everything.

You’re right! I’ve been there 5 times this year and barely scratched the surface. There are still very mainstream things on my to-do list that I haven’t made time for!

Glad to see a fellow native Floridian hooked on travel. Enjoyed the photos immensely. Will have to check out the Jane Austen features next time I’m in England.

I’ve lived in England for 3,5 of my 34 years and I fully understand why you love it. I’m glad you had the chance to take in so many sights, especially Bath which I think (despite being a wellknown tourist destination) is a bit underrated 🙂
