The Best Job In The World

If you could dream up the perfect job for Big Apple Angie, what would it be? Perhaps serving as the enthusiastic ambassador to some far-flung tropical destination, scuba diving in the morning and blogging about it in the afternoon?

Surely by now you’ve heard of Tourism Queensland’s brilliant plan to find an island caretaker for “The Best Job in the World.” Since the announcement was made last week, I’ve received dozens of emails from friends, family, colleagues and media contacts suggesting there’s no one in the entire world more qualified for this job than me. After giving this careful consideration for .00001 second, I’ve taken your suggestions to heart and am throwing my hat in the ring for this exciting opportunity!

From the Web site:

We’re looking for someone with an adventurous attitude, passion for the outdoors and good communication skills. A broad range of experience is considered and Tourism Queensland will be selecting applicants based on:

– Enthusiasm for the role

– Entertainment value (personality and creativity)

– Presentation skills (being media-friendly)

– At least one year’s relevant experience

Faithful Big Apple Angie readers will already know why I’m qualified for this job, but for newbies and Tourism Queensland officials, please see below for a brief bio.

Big Apple Angie is a publicist at the world’s largest public relations firm. She lives in a tiny apartment in Hell’s Kitchen, a colorful neighborhood on the West Side of New York City, the center of U.S. media. Angie is equipped with five years experience in travel + tourism marketing and publicity. Her expansive travel client roster includes various international hotels and resorts, Caribbean island nations, large metropolitan cities, airlines and top travel Web sites. When Angie isn’t busy landing her clients feature stories in the nation’s top newspapers, magazines and television programs, she’s blogging about her globetrotting adventures at www.bigappleangie.blogspot.com and writing articles in local and national publications like Seventeen and FirstCoastNews.com. In 2008, Angie was featured in Glamour magazine, was on the cover of AAA Going Places, was interviewed by Al Roker on The Today Show and was part of the cast for a nationally syndicated radio show on dating. A gifted blogger, journalist, TV/radio personality and publicist, Angie is ready to exceed Tourism Queensland’s expectations for this position.

In addition to her professional qualifications, Angie is an enthusiastic explorer and all-around travel fanatic. She enjoys cliff jumping, scuba diving, trampolines, hiking, attempting to surf and seeking out exciting experiences off the beaten path. While her travels have lead her to breathtaking encounters with sharks in Hawaii, to the dusty streets of Bolivia, to the catacombs of Paris and to the pitch black jungle caves of Belize, Angie has never visited the wonders of Australia. Her thirst for new experiences and enthusiasm for The Best Job In The World make Big Apple Angie the ideal candidate for this unique experience.

Readers, you’ll start to see changes here at Big Apple Angie. I want this job more than anything, so come along for the ride as I do my best to persuade Tourism Queensland that I’m just what they’re looking for.
